It’s biblically illiterate and harmfully perpetuated from the power of the pulpit to blame wise wives for their husbands’ foolish and violent choices.

I’m over it.

Last year, I ran out of a room filled with hundreds of students, sobbing after hearing a senior pastor describe a list of what makes for a lifetime of successful ministry.

Among the first points was “Choose the right spouse.”
He went on to describe the importance of not choosing an abuser or a cheater.

As if the person who didn’t abuse or cheat is at fault for “choosing wrong” and not the abuser for abusing or the cheater for cheating.

This narrative is not found in Scripture.

Scripture does not place the blame on the spouse who endured the foolishness of a fool.

God judges people separately for their choices even in marriage.

Your choices are yours.
Your spouse’s choices are theirs.

Its not silly

You can still be sad about a real sad thing that isn’t happening anymore

Because it really did happen
And it was really sad

💎 so be sad
Nobody needs you to not be sad about it anymore

I know the Lord can handle your sorrows. After all, Jesus was known as the man of sorrows.

So sorrow & show Him that sorrow. I thinking healing and wholeness can keep happening for you.

It’s not been too long
It’s not a lack of healing
It’s not a sign of shallow faith

You can be healed and keep needing healing

You can be sad here discos

I know you hear the dangerous stuff...

“Don’t choose an abuser or cheater” I heard this one in seminary and it gutted me… did I choose wrong?? Is my ex husbands abuse my fault because I chose to marry him and it was only AFTER we were married that all the scary stuff happened…

I heard a lot of unsafe and not true things about choice and marriage.

I wonder if you have too?

Safe theology transforms our understanding of who God is and who we are

IM SO SORRY IF YOUVE BEEN TOLD THAT ITS YOUR FAULT... for any sort of abuse you endured.

Someone choosing to abuse is always the abusers fault.
Anyways go read 1 Samuel 25 if you need a soothing balm of truth about how God differentiates between two peoples choices... EVEN in marriage.
